Homework and News Week of September 18, 2017

“Meeting Challenges” - Question of the week - How do people survive in the wilderness?

Dear parents / guardians, We are settling into our routines our first full week of school. We continue to talk about and notice students practicing Guiding Principles as we build a safe, respectful classroom for all. Our days are busy! In math, students in 5th grade are working hard multiplying and dividing by powers of 10, calculating metric conversions, and comparing and rounding decimals. In literacy we are reading about different types of challenges people face and how they respond to them. We began a social studies unit called “We Care” and are learning about empathy and noticing how others express different feelings. Students are reading with first graders on Friday afternoons and will soon be assigned a special buddy for the year! Have a lovely week!

Events: Open House - New Date is Sept. 28 - 5:30-6:30

Sincerely, Karen DiIorio-Bowen, kdiiorio-bowen@wsesu.org
