Literacy Theme – Meeting Challenges – Question of the week – How can nature challenge us?
Dear parents / guardians, We are busy getting use to our full school days once again. Students are working hard and are engaged in their learning! As you may know, the latest brain research reveals that hard work can grow our brains! In social studies we began a unit called “We Care.” Along with Kathryn Mason, our school counselor, we are exploring healthy vs. unhealthy relationships. We are getting to know one another and are working together to build a kind, safe, respectful, responsible, and of course fun classroom community - we are on our way! In literacy we learned new words and read and wrote about a realistic fictional story called Red Kayak, about a boy faced with using his boat and CPR skills to help in a rescue mission on a river. In math students are exploring our place value system by multiplying and dividing by powers of 10. Many thanks for getting parent surveys in! They are delightful to read and help me to work with families to better know and serve your child. I am setting up an email list for more frequent and easier communication. Please complete the parent survey if  you haven’t already done so. Feel free to email or call with questions or comments. Thanks again! Sincerely, Karen DiIorio-Bowen, kdiiorio-bowen@wsesu.org
